No one wants to have a cold or flu especially our kids. I hate seeing my little girl sick and miserable. For a while, it seemed like she caught every cold and flu there was going around. I have looked and tried so many natural remedies and ways to boost and strengthen her immune system. Some of these a doctor had recommended to me and others I just found online. These are the 10 things I found that seem to strength my daughter’s immune system the best.
I do want to state I am not a doctor or a nurse so please follow your
With our weather going back and forth from cold to hot every other day it seems people are getting sick a lot more. A few days ago my daughter started to get a cough and a runny nose. I let her stay home for a day so she wouldn’t get the other kids sick. The next day I dropped my daughter off at school went into her classroom and a lot of the kids were coughing. Vay was already feeling better but I knew she had probably got a cough from the kids in her class. A few days later my dad was sick. He was sick for about a week and both her and I didn’t get it.
You are probably wondering how my daughter was better in a day. Well, it was really two days because she started a cough the day before I let her stay home. I actually did a few natural remedies. I wanted to make sure she didn’t get worse since her birthday was in a few days and we were going to Disneyland. These are the 10 things I do to strengthen her immune system.
I always have my daughter take a multivitamin every day. I try to make sure she is getting a lot of her vitamins from the food she is eating but to make sure I give a multivitamin. A great way to add vitamins to your child’s diet is to make them smoothies with fruit, vegetables and add chia seeds to it. She doesn’t eat meat so I look for a multivitamin that is plant food based like Rainbow light Kids One which has a probiotic in it or Rainbow light kids Nutristar. This is also the brand of multivitamin I take as well but for adults. I usually order the one with a probiotic so I don’t have to buy a probiotic as well and it’s one less thing to get my daughter
Since we don’t spend much time in the sun every day to get enough vitamin D. I give my daughter Vitamin D3 which helps regulate the immune system. Vitamin D3 is also very important for our growing kids to help in the development of strong bones and teeth. I give my daughter a liquid D3 Carlson Super Daily D3.
Elderberry Syrup or gummies
This is what my urgent care doctor recommended to me to have my daughter take. I recommend making Elderberry syrup yourself but if not then these are the ones I have tried and seem to work. The Umka Elderberry I use if she is already sick since it also helps with a fever. Otherwise, the Vitamin Shoppe Syrup that is straight elderberry works the best but tastes horrible so your child probably won’t want to take it. My daughter drank the liquid once but won’t ever again. So now I give her the Natures Way Sambucus gummies and they are delicious.
This stuff right here is amazing for so many things. This kills Fungal infections, viruses, and bacteria. I also use this for earaches, pink eye, cuts, and burns. Just put half a teaspoon under there tongue for 30 seconds then they can swallow or for cuts and burn I place right on the area you are injured. I do this 3 times a day when sick and just once a day when healthy to boost her immune system. I only buy the Sovereign Silver bio Colloidal
I give her a detox bath right before bed because It usually makes her very tired. I only do this twice a week when she isn’t feeling well or just once a month when she is well. I also have her drink a lot of water after to
I make this at night for both my daughter and I. It really helps us sleep well and Turmeric has some amazing benefits. Tumeric has antioxidant properties as well as a detoxifying agent. I notice it really helps clear out the mucus when we are sick. I will be adding the recipe I use very soon so bare with me.
Every illness starts in our stomachs and since probiotics kill the bad bacteria in our stomachs this would probably be one of the most important things to take. If I don’t buy the multivitamin with a probiotic in it then I get the Culturelle kids Probiotics.
We don’t drink or eat dairy in our house for many reasons and there are so many delicious dairy-free alternatives out there right now. The only reason I will mention here is that dairy can cause phlegm to thicken and make it harder to cough out. Taking a Calcium supplement is much better or feed your child plant foods high in calcium like peas, kale, broccoli and oranges
Germ fighting Air diffuser
I use this to kill the germs in the air at our home. When people come over and are coughing or after someone in your house starts to get sick you don’t want it to spread. I get the kid safe germ destroyer or Plant Therapy Germ Fighter. I just put a few drops in my air diffusers and then I don’t have to worry so much about getting sick.
So there it is the 10 things we do in our home to not get sick. I hope these help you and your family this flu season. What natural remedies do you use to not get sick? I can never learn enough natural remedies.
