As a parent, we hate seeing our kids miserable and sick. They are cranky, congested and there is nothing we want more than to make them better as fast as we can. This Detox bath with help your child feel better quickly and will help them sleep better through the night. This is also great for adults so I put measurements for both.
My daughter is now five and has had so many colds especially since starting school. I have read and tried my share of natural remedies to cut these colds short. Mine and my daughters favorite have to be Detox baths. They are great for removing the toxins in kids and adults.
Why do we need a Detox Bath
Unfortunately, we are all constantly exposed to toxins. They are in the food we eat, the water we drink, the air we breath as well as the chemicals in household cleaners, lotions, soap, medicines and so much more. A detox bath with help pull all those horrible toxins out through the ski. This will help the liver as well as other organs work the best they can.
Since the bath will be opening the skins pours I do want to add that if you do not have purified water for your bath (which you can get by using a Berkey shower water filter) then you will definitely need to add 1/4 cup of baking soda to the water in order to neutralize the water and help mineral absorption. You also don’t want to use harsh soaps try one that is natural and unscented like Castile Soap. You don’t want to just absorb chlorine from the water and the chemicals from the soap back into your skin.
- 1/2 cup Epsom salts for kids and 1 cup for adults (you can also buy
Epsonsalts with Essential oils already included in this case you do not need to add more oils)
- 1/2 a teaspoon for kids and 1 teaspoon for adults of powdered or fresh ginger (the ginger will cause you to sweat)
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda for kids and 1/4 cup for adults
- 3-4 drops of Eucalyptus oil
- Remember to drink lots of water after the bath as it might really dehydrate you. Sometimes I start drinking water while in the bath.
I do recommend soaking in the tub for 40 min to an hour and only twice a week. Make sure the water is very warm but also not going to burn your child. I usually give my daughter her bath before bed since it will make her sleepy. She usually sleeps really well after her bath. I also recommend some good vitamins and my favorite Umcka Elderberry syrup. I take the Elderberry syrup at the first sight of a cold or if my daughter and I have been around people who are sick and it really helps. Add this with the bath and you should be feeling better in the morning.
So next time you or your little one feel a cold or flu coming on make a detox bath and you should be feeling much better in the morning.
